Benjamin Franklin Dawson, born in Indian Territory, Oklahoma, was a son of Samuel Riley Dawson, Jr. and his second wife, Martha Louisa Reed Elroy Dawson. He had four older full siblings and nine half-siblings from his father's first marriage to Margaret Queen Dawson.

Benjamin Franklin Dawson married Theresa Mary Wolff Thompson on March 8, 1921. They had no children.

Benjamin Franklin Dawson worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for many years when a serious accident caused his early retirement. He then worked for the Smith and Nichols General Store when he was elected County Treasurer. His wife completed his second term after his death.

Benjamin Franklin Dawson was a grandson of Samuel Riley Dawson, Sr. and Polly Ann Rogers Dawson, and a nephew of my ancestor, James Dawson and Temperance Butler Dawson.
